As an almost graduated Marketing major (finally!) I had the opportunity to take a summer internship. I've heard plenty of horror stories about interning and all the demeaning tasks interns are required to handle. Needless to say, I was determined to intern for a company that wouldn't employ me as their "Starbucks pick up girl." My first interview was with Studio 360 Photography and I knew without a doubt that this was the place for me. I fell IN LOVE with the studio's atmosphere, the images Dave creates, and the overall long-term vision of the company.
My first week of interning at Studio 360 Photography included being present for a photo session with Emily - a 6th grade dancer at Aspire Dance Studio. Emily is the sweetest girl - the kind that you can't help but break into smile when she's around. As I observed the photo session take place, I realized that Dave is a more gifted photographer than I realized. Dave was able to really capture Emily's personality by creating a fun, relaxed environment. All of the images turned out beautifully; especially the dance photos. The way to a dancer's heart is by allowing them to dance wherever they are able - and that's exactly what we did at her session! Emily showed off her impressive dance skills and technique while Dave snapped away with the camera. I couldn't decide what was more awesome; the joyful expression on Emily's face or her mother beaming with pride. It's refreshing to be working for a company that focuses on really making clients happy!
Today marks exactly 1 month of working for the studio! I've already learned so much about marketing, photography, and word-of-mouth advertising. Dave's clients are primarily referrals from previous clients, which I think is the ultimate testament to his work. For example, 2 weeks after Emily's shoot her older sister Samantha came in to be a Senior Model Rep! One thing I learned quickly is that Dave doesn't just create images that will last a lifetime, he creates client relationships that last a lifetime, too.
I couldn't be more thrilled about choosing Studio 360 Photography for my internship. Dave & Lisa are both so full of energy, just like myself, and have been fantastic to work with. I'm familiar with the quote "love your job and you'll never work a day in your life." I know I'm young and just starting out, but I finally am beginning to understand what that means. I love the work Dave does, the fun atmosphere of the studio, and the fact that they never make me pick up Starbucks (mainly because they prefer Caribou....JUST KIDDING!)
